On the 5th of March, the Comité Diplomatique had the opportunity to be received at the Norwegian Embassy in Brussels. For this occasion, we were pleased to host some students from MUN Antwerp in our delegation.

We had the honor of beginning our discussions with His Excellency Mr. Jørn Gloslie. His Excellency started by explaining the strong relationship Norway has with the European Union, its closest partner. We were privileged to ask questions directly to His Excellency. We discussed a variety of topics, with a particular focus on the current geopolitical stakes, Norway’s role in them, and its position in the near future. We also explored the position the EU should adopt towards the United States.

Additionally, we discussed the role of future diplomats in a rapidly changing world and received valuable advice for the future:

  • Make the European Union work.

  • We should all be willing to make compromises.

  • Learn about others and build connections, both within the EU and beyond.

Afterward, we had the opportunity to discuss and learn about the bilateral ties between Belgium and Norway with Edmund Walton, the Secretary for Political Affairs. Despite being geographically distant, both countries share many similarities.

Mr. Walton provided us with an insightful perspective on life as a diplomat. He also explained the daily tasks of diplomats and the functioning of the embassy in Brussels.

We are sincerely grateful for this meeting and would like to thank the staff of the Norwegian Embassy for making it possible. We have all learned a great deal and are leaving with many valuable thoughts.
